Traffic stops

Dear Creativity,

You got me excited about HatchDay. I followed the spark. I mapped ideas. I said yes to the possibility.
But lately, something’s been nudging me — gently, steadily — in a different direction.

At first, I resisted. Wasn’t I supposed to follow through? Wasn’t this what you wanted?

But you’ve never been about straight lines. You’ve always been more about movement — the kind that surprises, pauses, and pivots.

This weekend, I was driving with an old friend through the Garden of the Gods when we hit a patch of stopped traffic. At first, we didn’t know why. And then we saw them: bighorn sheep, right on the side of the road. Majestic. Unexpected. Completely unbothered by the schedule the rest of us were keeping.

And just like that, I understood. Sometimes the pause is the moment. Sometimes we have to wait, notice, and let wonder walk right through.

So I’m choosing to pause HatchDay for now. Not because it wasn’t worth doing, but because something else is calling louder.

This isn’t stepping back — it’s stepping in.

Thank you, sweet Creativity, for reminding me that creative work isn’t always about charging forward. Sometimes, it’s about seeing what stops you — and letting that change your course.

Innovatively yours,
Dr. Abigail
