Focus is a kind of permission

Today I’ve been thinking about perspective and the permission we give ourselves to push against the status quo and think differently.

You know me well, Creativity. I live in both the linear, logical realm and the free-flowing creative one. Most days, these worlds complement each other beautifully. Until they don’t.

When it comes to priorities and task management, I want the structure, and I don’t want the structure. I crave a system… until it boxes me in. That’s when I remember it’s the perfect moment to lean into you.

What if, instead of trying to hold the whole picture in view, I allowed myself to focus in on one small part at a time? To zoom into the priority in front of me, and trust that the larger landscape is still there, waiting?

But of course, to do that, I have to pause. To stop. To observe. To choose where to put my focus, instead of rushing through a never-ending list of tasks that may or may not connect to the bigger goals.

So now I’m wondering, Creativity… how much easier might it be if we gave ourselves permission to zoom in, one clear snapshot at a time?

Innovatively yours,
Dr. Abigail
